How To Draw A Tudor

I am so pleased to share my first Tudor drawing tutorial here at On the Tudor Trail. Thank you, Natalie, for hosting me and for creating these wonderful two months of All Things Boleyn!

This lesson is appropriate for ages 4 to 104 but, based on what my family tells me every time I do one of these, I have a feeling some of you will say "I can't do this!". All I ask is that you give it a try. This tutorial is just a guide and your drawing will be unique to your own style, technique, and drawing tools. The video itself is also quite calming for any of you who just like to watch people draw and colour.

In the step-by-step directions below, the stages of drawing are broken down much like a toy assembly guide, and you will see each new step highlighted in red. Download a PDF file of How to Draw Anne Boleyn.

Now go on and give it a try and remember: this is supposed to be fun! Don't forget to snap a pic and share your finished Annes in the Talking Tudors Facebook group or on Instagram and tag me so I can see your beautiful and unique portraits! Stay tuned in June for a new Tudor drawing tutorial.

My tools of choice (or just use what you have!):

Fine tip permanent marker

Heavy weight or "mixed media" sketch book

Prismacolor coloured pencils
